The story revolves around four people in an Imperial Society, that has disbanded religion and art, and replaced it with Engineering, Industry, and Slavery. After many years in hiding, he and the Continental Resistance bring the fight back to the colonies at New Oxford(Orlando), Florida. Many miles north in Londonbridge(Richmond), Virginia, a slave uprising is incidentally started by the Slave King, Dejones, the British Empire’s most barbaric experiment. A man of many masters, he was molded for a single purpose, the downfall of the British Empire. Across the Atlantic, Silas Ryders, a young captain, who has a fear of heights that made him take the nautical route in the British Navy. Unfortunately, an attack on Parliament, by the newly allied nations of Asia has forced him to go back into Skyfleet, the British Airforce, but before he can go on the attack, the Grand-Marshal of Sky-Fleet asks him to deal with the rebellion back in America. His beloved, is a slave but he also falls in love with his best friend, a Sky-Captain, Rachel Glynn. The Gentleman General, the Slave King, and Silas Ryders are all brought together by Don Dominic Negroni, who is the Petrolian Man. He brought the British Empire to a golden age thanks to the invention of his airships and his architectural ingenuity. He brings all the characters together with his conflict with society and a long kept secret that could bring back the old Empire, but his creation of Dejones sparks another American Revolution that could divide the Empire on all fronts; leaving the threat of an Asian Invasion all too real.
Q & A:
The best thing about writing this book?
I loved making the characters and events in a Steampunk setting. Basically making history my playground.
Where did you get your idea for this story?
At first it was a naval warfare book set in the 1700s during the Golden Age of Piracy. But when I watched the 2011 adaptation of “The Three Musketeers”, and thinking that it was just another Pirates of the Caribbean, I made it Steampunk.
What would you tell aspiring writers out there?
Let’s start a revolution and bring more original stories to Hollywood!
What is your favorite book?
Right now it has to be Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell.
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate?
French Vanilla Latte, unfortunately with a lot of sugar.
Anything else that you would like to add?
The one thing that got me to start writing was Star Wars. It is my dream to write a Star Wars movie one day, and thanks to Disney it’s now possible.
I want to thank William Clark Gayton for allowing me to promote his book on my blog. I hope this post has inspired you to go out and read Affairs of Another American Revolution!
